In the early 1900’s the Industrial nurses working in Massachusetts saw the need to create a distinct field of Industrial nursing due to the unique challenges and needs of the industrial workforce. Through collaboration with other nurses, business leaders and physicians, they created a foundation that included standards of practice, need for continuing education, ongoing collaboration to ensure that this unique field of nursing would endure.
